Providing an introduction to the XML Registry Standard developed by OASIS/ebXML, this session will briefly describe what it is, what it does, key features, and the current status of the standard.  Features that will be coming with version 3.0 will be introduced, including event notification, cooperation between ebXML registries and federated registries, lifecycle management, content management services, and content based queries.

This presentation will introduce the ISO/IEC 11179 – Metadata Registry (MDR) family of standards. This includes a description of what this type of registry does, with emphasis on semantics management capabilities. It will address the relation of 11179 MDR to the other registry types covered in this Open Forum. Plans for new work on coordination between registries and on extensions for XML and other purposes will be briefly covered.
